Tracking your food (WHAT A PIC! 😂) • Whether you track or not you have to be aware of what you’re putting in your body if you’re looking to optimise your physique and performance. Personally, I don’t track right now, this is because firstly, I’m trying to GAIN weight so the food doesn’t need to be as precise & secondly, because I’m tracking my average weekly weight. This allows me to gauge where my physique is going and at what rate. If I were to put on weight too quickly then I could simply pull back on the food a little bit & vice versa if I was losing weight when I want to be putting it on. • This is my tracking protocol when aiming to put on size (FOR NOW). In the long run I aim to do a much more structured gaining period in which I can keep on top of every factor to ensure a successful gaining period with a decent amount of muscle gain and limited fat gain. • When I would be cutting I would 100% be tracking calories and macros to ensure success and to make sure I keep on top of all the small factors. This would be the same protocol I would suggest others pursuing a cut to follow, and the same for a recomp phase- something I’m a massive advocate for, especially in young trainees. Training Creatively 🎨👇🏼 • This is a video from yesterday’s session, being creative is essential in progress as you find the movements that feel best for you. This is a variation on a machine row which allows me to benefit from a HUGE stretch with a long range of motion allowing for me to engage my lats for a longer period of time with a greater contraction at he top of the movement. • This is a movement where I am able to enter ‘the zone’ in my mind in which I’m able to go for 5 more reps even when I think I have no more. What to take from this post? Take your basic machine row or other basic exercises and put your own creativity into the exercise to increase the intensity of the movement and create more hypertrophy on the target muscle. This works wonders for me but don’t disregard the basic old school exercises as they’re popular for a reason.
